Newfoundland and Labrador activities
St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador's capital, is the perfect combination of big-city luxury and small-town charm. One of the oldest and most easterly cities in North America, it is full of character and charisma, with a contemporary, sophisticated edge.
Each year, from April to August, these 10,000-year-old glacial giants float past our northern and eastern coasts – otherwise known as Iceberg Alley. Often visible from land, closer views are available by taking a boat tour.
With 29,000 km (18,000 miles) of coastline, including an abundance of breathtaking fjords, bays, guts, and inlets – not to mention the inland rivers, lakes, and ponds – Newfoundland and Labrador is a great spot for adventuring on the water. You might even see a whale or an iceberg.
Newfoundland and Labrador offers plenty of world class hiking, including the East Coast Trail, a 336-km (208-mile) long system of coastal and wilderness paths through spectacular wilderness and quaint seaside communities.
